Angela Michael
Angela has been teaching piano in Edmonds for 19 years. She’s a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, a former television news producer, and someone who genuinely believes every person has the ability to make music.
She didn’t set out to build a studio. It started with a neighbor’s request, a love of music she’d carried since age eight, and a decision to learn how to teach properly before taking on a single student. What grew from there is a studio full of kids and adults who don’t just play the piano — they love it.
Is Angela the Right Teacher for You?
Piano lessons are a real commitment — for students and families both. Angela works best with students who are ready to show up, put in the practice, and enjoy the journey. Here's who thrives in her studio:
Families with Young Children
Your child is curious, energetic, and you've been wondering if they're ready for piano. Angela starts students as young as five, and she knows exactly how to make learning feel like play without sacrificing real musical skills. From day one, she focuses on healthy technique, a beautiful sound, and music that your child actually wants to learn. Parents are an important part of the process in the early years — attending lessons and helping with home practice makes a real difference. If you're ready to be part of the journey, you'll fit right in here.

Why Students Thrive Here
A lot of piano teachers can teach you the notes.
Angela teaches you how to make music.
Here's what that looks like in her studio:
Healthy Technique From Day One
Most beginner method books force young hands into unnatural positions. Angela never uses them. From the very first lesson, she builds proper posture, hand shape, and relaxed movement — the foundation that lets students play beautifully for a lifetime without tension or strain.
Learning Through Imagination
Music tells a story, and Angela’s youngest students learn that early. A piece isn’t just notes on a page — it’s a sad kitten, a stormy night, a character coming to life. When students connect emotionally to what they’re playing, their sound changes completely.
More Than Private Lessons
Every student is part of a studio community. Monthly group classes bring students together to play games, work on rhythm, and perform for each other in a low-pressure setting. It builds confidence in a way that private lessons alone simply can’t.
Music You Can Hear in Your Head
Angela teaches students to audiate — to hear music internally before they play it. Students sing, echo, and find sounds by ear alongside reading music on the page. The result is stronger memory, better musicianship, and students who genuinely understand the music they’re playing, not just the notes in front of them.
A Teacher Who Never Stops Learning
Angela holds a National Certification in Music Teaching and regularly attends conferences, workshops, and specialized courses. What she learns, her students benefit from directly.
